Elias G. Carayannis jest profesorem w obszarze innowacji, technologii i przedsiębiorczości, jest współzałożycielem i dyrektorem Global and Entrepreneurial Finance Research Institute (GEFRI), dyrektorem ds. badań w the European Union Research Center (EURC), George Washington University School of Business (GWSB). Jest także jednym z wiodących naukowców w Fraunhofer Institute for Mechatronic Systems Design w Niemczech.
Prof. Carayannis jest autorem ponad dwustu pięćdziesięciu artykułów naukowych i ponad pięćdziesięciu książek naukowych publikowanych w takich wydawnictwach jak Springer, CRC Press, Praeger/Greenwood, Palgrave/MacMillan and Edward Elgar.
